I work in a 10-person office. One of my jobs is to answer the phone and frequently someone will call and say, "Someone just called me from this number!"
I go through my list of questions: "Are you working with someone at a real estate company?"
"Do you know who might have called you?" "Do you want me to name the people who work here to see if you recognize any names?" The more questions I ask, the more peeved I get! What if it were someone from Wal-Mart who called? They have 1.8 million employees - could have been any one of them. Do you want them to see if they can figure out who called you ?
I want to say, "If someone called you and it was important, they would have left you a message, you numbskull! Is that all some people have to do - look at their phones for missed calls and try to track them down?
Okay - I'm glad I got that off my chest!

Truer words have never been spoken. It's like they are afraid they might miss out on something.
A woman called my cell phone a few years ago and was furious that I had called her without leaving a message. I had no idea who she was or why my number was supposedly on her caller ID. I figured it was just a mistake or maybe I had called a wrong number at some point in the day. But she wouldn't let it go, and I finally had to hang up on her. I mean, seriously people, get a life.
Sorry, I meant to comment on your blog earlier but someone called my cell phone last Tuesday and I didn't recognize the number....so I've been extremely busy trying to track them down.
